From CNN.com :

(CNN) -- The latest round of Democratic contests has left everyone asking, "Now what happens?"

Sen. Hillary Clinton picked up critical wins Tuesday night in the Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island primaries. Sen. Barack Obama won in Vermont.

The Texas caucuses -- which offer up about a third of the state's delegates -- are still too close to call.

Obama didn't lose his lead, but he lost his momentum. The Illinois senator was on a 12-contest winning streak since Super Tuesday before Clinton stopped him by winning the two big prizes Tuesday night.

CNN's latest delegate count has Obama with 1,520 delegates to Clinton's 1,424. To clinch the Democratic nomination, a candidate must get 2,025 delegates.

TN Congressional District 8 Selects Delegates to National Convention
Written by Landshark
Wednesday, 27 February 2008

On February 23, 2008 the delegates from Tipton County went to Trenton and participated with 18 other District 8 counties to elect 3 Clinton delegates, 2 Obama delegates, and 1 Clinton alternate to the National Democratic Convention in Denver on August 25-28, 2008. District 8 delegates who had pledged support for Clinton or Obama on the Pledge of Support form submitted to the Tennessee Democratic Party campaigned with letters, phone calls, personal visits, and emails prior to and on convention day.

There were many excellent candidates to select from but only six slots were available. These are the District 8 delegates who will go to the National Convention: Clinton Delegates--Anthony Land (Haywood), Judy Barker (Obion), Ann Strong (Crockett), and Jack Cunningham as alternate; Obama Delegates—Bob Davie, Jr. (Tipton!) and Will Radford (Carroll). In addition to these national delegates and those from other congressional districts, will be 9 Clinton and 6 Obama At-Large delegates selected by the Tennessee Democratic Executive Committee in Nashville on March 8. Therefore, other District 8/Tipton County delegates may be selected for the National Convention then. We will publish those names in the next newsletter.

We would especially like to congratulate Bob Davie, Jr. of Covington who will be representing our county and our state in Denver!

Another Sweep For Obama

From CNN.com :

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- While Sen. John McCain was inching toward the Republican presidential nomination, Sen. Barack Obama staked a claim as the Democratic front-runner.

Obama's wins in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia primaries propelled him past Sen. Hillary Clinton in the race for delegates.

According to CNN calculations, Obama has 1,215 delegates to Clinton's 1,190.

To clinch the Democratic nomination, a candidate must get 2,025 delegates.

Obama had led in pledged delegates, but Clinton had held the lead when superdelegates were factored in.

Superdelegates, a group of almost 800 Democratic Party officials and leaders, are not required to make their votes public and are free to change their minds.

The Illinois senator has now won eight consecutive contests.
